Some times it's hard to get a good valve set due to the fact that there is ware on the rocker arms and you get a bridgeing affect , if you take your time and lookreal close you can see the ware and just work off the woren side or get the rocker arms reground and as far as getting the real hot to set in one of my IH books anything over 100 degrees is good and go over them a coupel of times you will see the differance.
