If it looks like there's a place on the stabilizer made to attach it. If it's jury-rigged it may pull the stabilizer in a direction that it wasn't designed for. Befoe long you'll get tired of dealing with it and get the cylinder rebuilt. There is a remote chance that the problem is in the valve, but that's unlikely.
