Cubby50 you are more than welcome. None of the springs will come out with the cover. The thing to remember with the cub is that it isn't syncronized so if the gears aren't spinning, it's hard to shift sometimes. I used to be a Chev mech and I have my Grandfathers Cub. It is as old as I am. I just love to work it on my farm in Mo. I have a 20 acre horse place. The old cub runs like a swiss watch and it keeps me in touch with the Grandfolks. They are long since gone, but I can still remember cutting alfalfa with it when I was a teenager in Oregon. Now I have it here and I hope to see my Grandkids (someday), drive it.
