Punch below for a link to the exact diagram you need. As for testing the alternator at the parts store, sounds like the guy there doesn't know much about it! For a one wire unit all they gotta do is mount it on the stand, connect the tester output lead and spin it up. If the alternator is good it'll show around 14.5 volts, and output amps somewhere in the neighborhood what's stamped on the alternator case. (One-wire alternators are usually stamped 42, 55 or 61 amps)
