Sounds like you are loosen pressure on the T/A , is your TELTALE lite working on the dash??? if not put a new bulb in it and see if it come on or if ya notice and hard steering when this happens . If it was POPPEN our of gear in either the range trans or the speed trans then there should be a teltale of gear clash or grinding. Did any of them socall mecenicks put a gauge to it to check pressures on the MCV.
