starting troubles

my tractor(H) has been having trouble starting in the warmer weather i have painted it and gotten new parts etc i bought in the fall last year so it was colder out it started perfectly but new it takes like a minute of cranking to get it to put put haha but i knotice that when im runing it it somes a little black when i thottle up to quickly this would be a sign of it running rich ??? would that cause harder starting when i start it i usualyy bring it up to about 1/2 throttle becuase it starts easyer any solution besides timing as im only 16 and dont really know nor want to re time it
also sorry for the mis spelling as im in quite a rush thanks for your input .. Pat
