Jim, OK, now you have me worried. The only oblong (odd)holes are one at each end of the head. The rest of the holes are round. I do not have a water pump. The part number for the head gasket I purchased is 366300R3, which is the same as the one removed from motor when head was removed. Is the correct one? Pistons are 3.25 inches in diameter. Thanks, Hartford Hi Everyone, This is a rookie question. Does "This side out" on the head gasket mean "this side up" or "this side towards head"? Are most of you using NAPA copper spray on gasket to help with seal (I am using CASE-IH head gasket)? Thanks. Jim Becker Make sure you have the right gasket. With no water pump, you should have the larger (odd shaped) water passages in the gasket.
