The resivoir is not in front of the hydraulic pump. You add Hy Tran or straight weight non detergent motor oil in the box with the lift arms on it. On the left side of the lift unit is a bung that is removed to add hydraulic oil. Fill to within a half inch of top. I would recommend you get an IT manual. The one you need is manual number IH 201. They are not perfect, but will have most info you need in it. Any good motor oil is OK, I use straight SAE 30 year round in all my Farmalls. The rear end should have at least a good 90 weight gear oil in it. BTW you can order manuals from this site, look to left of page and click on tractor manuals. They are also available at TSC and other farm supply stores or Case IH.
