H pressure plate

I put a new clutch disc in and had flywheel turned along with an engine overhaul. I put the engine on the tractor last week and the clutch is not disengaging. Took the engine off again this morning to see what I had messed up. Looks like the pressure plate is so tight against the disc that the fingers on the plate don't retract enough to allow the release bearing to make sufficient contact to retract the pressure plate. I'm about tired of splitting this old machine. Any ideas? A fellow had this same topic in the archives earlier this month. I tried contacting him thru email to see if he found a solution but no luck.
