I have purchased 3 Farmall H tractors in the last few years, here is a breakdown of price/condition: Most recent purchase - late 42 model with like-new rear tires and good fronts. Original IH wide front in good but worn condition, tin needs work. Engine/transmission/clutch in good shape. Paid $1500 and sold the wide front for $450.
A few years back I bought this early 42 model with intentions of restoring it and the mower for $400. Sold the wide front for $400. Engine block and head cracked and useless. Transmission full of water, chipped gears, and bearings out. Mower needed repairs to be useable, tin OK.
Bought this early 42 model hoping to get a good block and transmission for the tractor above. Paid $150 and got a good transmission/rearend. Engine block cracked, tin useable/repairable.
Without seeing pictures, I would say what you describe is worth from $200 to $600 max as it is not running.
