Sam the TA is a gear reduction unit in the transmission sorta like a low range. It is not desighned to use all the time only in tough situations when more power or slower ground speed is needed. It will not hold back going down hill it will free wheel and damage the TA unit and they are expensive to work on. You need to get a service manual and adjust the TA by the book exactly by the book. If you need to know anything else this is a good place to ask questions. Someone here maybe not me but someone will have answers.
