Yeah, Red is right I think, H's and M's had two basic type of front wheels. The one with the 3 clamp type rim retainer is non-adjustable for the wheel spacing. The other common type has riveted on lugs on the rim which are fastened to the cast wheel center by 3 fine thread, high strength bolts and can be positioned 4 different ways to obtain 4 different front wheel spacings. I've noticed most H's and M's built before 1947 have the non-adjustable front wheels and the tractors built after that usually have the adjustable type. And I gotta say, I never could figure out why IH quit using those wheels on the later tractors, to me the wheels they used on 460's and 560's and later tractors weren't nearly as good as the old adjustable type(I know, they could be turned around to space 'em wider, but they still were like the cheap John Deere and other Mfr's wheels). Another "Boo-Boo" IH made when they were still up there, but losing ground. The old adjustable type, and the non-adjustables too, for that matter, look really nice with the red center and the silver-gray rims like the rear wheels. The all red disc wheels look "blah".
