I had the same problem once. I ran two extra wires to the voltage reg terminals and hooked up a push button. When you push the button it excites the regulator and starts to charge. It has worked trouble free for two years. The tractor is a club tractor and has multiple operators, so some don't like to rev up all the way. That is the real secret, rev up ALL the way. don't be afraid to let the engine warm up for awhile before revving it up, running the engine takes very little power. I have found that the one wire is very reliable. Just my thoughts and input. Good Luck
