Belt tensioner for Super A?

I have tried unsucessfully several times to tighten the fan belt on my Super A. It still squeals when you first start it and the belt slips. If havn't found a way to hold the fan up while I tighten the bolt on the the back of the fan bracket. When you turn the nut it wants to let the tension off the belt. I tried a tensioner from harbor freight that you put between the pullies and it holds them apart while you tighten it and in principle it will work but it is a piece of overseas junk and I havn't found a good one. I know it shouldn't be this hard. Thanks.
