sleeve seals

Finally got my motor unstuck on a 1940 H I bought. For some reason the #2 cylinder was full of rust. It did not come from the cylinder wall or piston but somehow had suck about a 1/2 inch or more of just pure rust. That was the stuck piston. When I tried to turn the engine the sleeve came up with the piston. Do the H's have sleeve seals? If they do not, can I just push the sleeve back in place and will it keep water out of the oil pan?
