12 V Conversion - Helpful Hint

Just finished switching a neighbor's Super "C" to 12 volts. Standard arrangement using a 3-wire Delco alternator. However, discovered a nifty little short-cut. You need to install a diode between Alternator Post #2 and the switch or the tractor will not shut down when the switch is turned off. However, a small warning lamp will do the same thing. If you replace either the amp guage or the water temperature guage, buy one that is illuminated. There is your lamp. Just wire #2 post to go through the guage lamp to the switch. You will not need to replace any of your wire harness. No expensive diode thingy to buy or wait for an order to arrive. It works just like a warning light on your car. Comes on when you first pull the switch, but goes out when the system starts to charge.
