New 1953 Cub owner

I've successfully fixed several things on my recently purchased 1953 Cub, but one final problem has me stumped. There is an excessive amount of water coming out of the radiator over-flow tube, seemingly when the engine is warm, but especially when under load. Previous owner said the problem just started occurring. Engine seems to run great, with no loss of power or smoke, and doesn't seem to be running hot. People have told me that it's the head gasket (but there doesn't seem to be any oil in the water), others are telling me that it's the radiator cap (It's the original, non-regulator type, which the rubber inside is cracking) and I should replace it (after the first one worked fine for 50 years) with a new presurized type. Any tips, could the radiator just be clogged somewhere and not flowing properly? Thanks!
