We have the same problem with our 1086, which uses the same pto setup. It has something to do with the hydraulic enagement system. We haven't looked into ours yet but will soon need to. I imagine there is a bad oring in the shift Hydraulic shift mechanism and I don't think it is too involved. Our pto seems to work ok and doesn't slip once it decides to engage, does yours? If so, I imagine some patience and a couple of o rings will fix it.
