Jeff ~ If your 3500 was produced in the late 1960's, we have something in common; most dealers won't attempt to repair the transmission -- and you shouldn't attempt to have one do it. None of the current mechanics were trained (I suspect) in the old technology. You DON'T want to be on the receiving end of a well-meaning but young mechanic who splits your tractor only to have a pile of parts. Most dealers will prefer, if it's a serious matter, just replace the whole unit. Not cheap. And -- you hate to lose the backhoe. Question: Did you notice a "growl" in the transmission before it went down? Russ
