Andy, thanks for the response. My tie rods do have the clamps on each end like you mentioned. I think the "non-threaded" rod is too corroded to slide out of the sleeve. There are notches for the clamp bolt also. The thought did cross my mind about cutting the rod and welding an extension in the middle. I'm not convinced this is the solution at the moment. I am not in a hurry to start cutting just yet. If I can find a strong penetrant other than WD-40, I may try and soak it for a while. Again, thanks for your advice!
