Rear Oil Seal on an H

Can someone tell me what all is involved in replacing the rear oil seal on an H ?
Will I have to split it? Are there any "tricks" I should be aware of ?And are there any special tools I will need to have before I start the job ?
Lotsa questions I know .Thanks in advance for the help.
