I think Bob M is probably on to something. I tend to think it sounds like a valve problem because it happens when the tractor is warm. The bent valve sounds like a possibility, because a visually-unnoticeable bend would be amplified when hot to the point that it may be hanging just enough to cause the pop.

The only other thing I can think of is that the distributor shaft and bushings are worn or that the rubbing-block cam lobes are worn unevenly.
