Live PTO and Brush Cutter

I am hooking up a Howse brush cutter (model 500)to my 300 utility which has live PTO. I had been using a slip clutch adapter on the PTO when I ran this cutter on my Super C. Is this overrun PTO adapter needed with live PTO since the Howse cutter does not have this slip clutch built in? I would appreciate a better understanding of when the adapter is needed. Thanks.
