I think the compression ratio is lowered on the replacement piston kit. Thats why the smoke and hard starting in cold weather. If you set the valve stand out to where the valves are flush with the cylinder head that will give some compression back. Been there Done that. Your MR CASE IH dealer won't like to hear that though.
