super a final drive lubricant

i have recentlty purchased a 1949 super a and while checking all of the fluids i noticed that the final drive plugs have grease fittings tapped in them and pumped full of grease is this the right way to lubricate the gears in the final drive? if so how many pumps of grease should i put in it and how often?
