welcome Doc. Yes it could be just the belly pump leaking. these pumps are allways pumping unless you remove the counter shaft drive to it.I made my own gasget for mine and sealed it fine.if you drop the pump down use a jack or two 3/8 alltreads to lower it safely. the belly pump holds 6 quarts of oil and is separate from the tranny fluid. speed bump
