M&W made these for H and M tractors. They provide a "sort-of" live PTO, in that you can use the hand clutch to stop the forward motion of the tractor while leaving the pto engaged. This is accomplished by releasing the left side of the differential shaft and allowing it to spin freely while the pto still runs. If you get this thing fixed, DO NOT attempt to shift gears while the pto is running! I don't think you can run the tractor successfully until you either fix or remove this unit. If you do a search of the archives on this board, I think you can find some pictures from the manual as well as info about replacing the clutch disks.
