It has been along time since I worked on one of these. Others will likely offer better information. We will assume that you have a J-4 magneto. After the rotor is removed, do you find a plate held with 3 screws? If so, the points are under that plate. Careful with the gasket under that plate. A parts catalog is very helpful with the exploded drawings that it contains. If you go further toward removing the magneto from the tractor, follow exactly the instructions in a good repair manual. If removed incorrectly, retiming after reinstallation may prove very frustrating. Don't ask how I know.
