i am not familiar with the 856,but if it is like the 1066 i have had a similar problem.on the 1066 the pump is mounted on the multiple valve located on the left side of the tractor and driven by the pto gear.under the multiple control valve in the tractor main body,there is a check valve,if this valve is missing or leaking your pump will not pump any fluid.
