Sometimes those tests on the pumps can be decieving. I have worked at a Case IH dealer for 3 years and have had pumps that seem to be the problem on the tractor, then test them, they test fine, put them back on, and still not work. I haven't worked on a 856 specifically, but many a 656, and I am assuming they are similar or related to a 66 series way of working. Good luck, I hope for your sake it isn't the pump, because they are mighty pricy.
