well my misfortune may turn out to be good luck.
Friday I got my H stuck after mowing about a acre of my grass.
I got pulled out on Sunday, so I figure I better rake up my hay and bale it monday after work.
Got it all raked ( didnt take long). Sure enough it rained on Sunday night. I raked it around again monday and figured it might make it by Wednesday. I raked again Tuesday and it was just a little damp.
Well last night it rained cats and dogs. Just like emptying a bucket.
So today I am out there busting up the windrows by hand with a fork spreading it out.
What do you think is there a chance to save this hay? I know its not much but I dont want to loose any if I can help it.

My grandad told me that once he had hay that had got rained on over and over. Finally he raked it near the ditch wioth a dump rake and pitched it in. Of course, it got rained on alot more. He had hoped it would help slow down the erosion of the ditch. He said that winter when he let the cows run over theentire place, and he fed good barn hay, the cows would bust their d___ necks to get down to wherew the packed mouldy hay was and ate every bit of it p. I would wait until it was good and dry, and bale it. When I put it in the barn, i would sprinkle salt on it, say a big diner spoon on each bale, or maybe a fist full on10 bales. The salt will disolve in thew hay, will dry the bales out some, and go down into the bale some. I think that your cows will slurp them up. Come back this winter, if you do it, and tell the board how it went, for the others

we use nh rake to ted raise one side of basket way up and the other side down that will unroll your windrow. Rember tough hay no rain wont burn but rained on will.we use poor rained on hay during the winter spread it on the ground cows than can eat it or lie in it. we will bale hay tough if rain threatens did yesterday real proud got it baled loads in the shed thunder and rain coming in and after all that work no rain should have left a load out for bait

Not very much but if it stays dry this time it might be allright at least it should be better than a mouth full of snow.

We have a saying over here about spoiled hay :-
"Well I suppose they will eat it before they will eat their front feet!"
You've got to be a bit philosophical at times :(
