Just got a 49 Farmall Cub- Learned that a Woods L59 belly mower would fit- Bought a good used one- However it came off a Farmall A, and the idler bracket assembly with it has a different space between the mounting screws- Is this where something called an AV conversion kit comes in? And what does AV mean? And where does one order what may be needed? I appreciate all your help!
Thanks!

i might be interested in the deck for my 1940 A if you decide to sell it and buy the proper deck.

number one problem is that the cub pto turns oppisite of every other tractor out there including the A.

Now with that being said I have run a Woods under a cub for 20+ years. Modified brackets and idler mounts. THEN crossed the belt ot get proper rotation.

If you want something that is right for your Cub sell what you have and buy the right deck with the right mounts, spindles, blades etc.

also look at faq's on Link and Link

the woods 59 is made in two versions. one for normal PTO rotation which is what you have if it is off of an A. The other version is set up for a Cub which rotates backwards of all other tractors also at a higher rpm, Any pto driven implement for the Cub is special for this reason. The deck for the Cub has the spindles threaded opposite, the blades are also designed for the backwards rotation. You can use a regular mower deck if you cross the belt, twist it, and tension it about three times normal, this shortens the life of the belt tremendously and Woods brand belts are the only belts that I have found that can handle the twist. An industrial belt at $35 will last about a half hour. A Woods belt $85 will last a couple of months to a couple of years depending on how hard you use it and your driving techniques. If you get the proper deck with the correct spindles and blades the belts, idler pulleys and the PTO bearings will last much longer. With all of the above said you can adopt what you have to work. Just be prepared for the additional repair expense and labor down the road. Good luck
