Can anyone out there give any info good or bad on Dynahoes. I am looking to buy a model#160 backhoe/loader with a 353? detroit deisel and auto trans. The year is unkn but in the 70's. I have a Ford 9N and a 504 Iternational so i am not a stranger to tractors but i know nothing about the Dynahoes. Any info is greatly apreciated.

I have a model 160 also and my serial number is D 160 CD 21643 and was told it was probably a 1971 machine. I currently have a need for the dip stick Hyd. cylinder, I broke the casing. Hope this helps.

We had a 160 for years with a detroit in it, worked great. The only problems we had to fix were leaky cylinders, starter, altenator and they were pretty standard. We had a hard time finding a hydraulic filter. We never had to weld anything up because it is so robustly over buildt.
The only thing is, because of all the iron that is in it, it is slow moving compared to the new lighter machines.

Russ, Dynahoes are a tough machine, we had 2 190's and 1 160 at work for years the biggest prob. we had was with the brake booster most likely do to opperator abuse and lack of maint. parts are a little spendy but most components are off the shelf and availible from the manufacture, cyl. kits can be supplied by any hyd. shop. Thay are a noisy machine but have lots of power and reach. good luck.

I use to own one and honestly I am sorry I got rid of it. The machine (assuming it was not abused) is one big /strong piece of iron. Being it is a DDAD (Detroit Deisel Allison Div.) parts for the engine are easy to come by. The engine comes out easy and a rebuild is pretty straight forward. The machine in general is LOUD !!! but much stronger than most backhoes on the market today. Repacking for the cylendars are pretty standard.
