I am not up on tractors and was wondering, is a Fiat tractor a decent product ? Can you get parts for them fairly easy ? I have a chance to buy a used one at a fair price, but am concerned with the name Fiat. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I can only tell you about my experience with Fiat.
I use to drive my neighbor's Oliver 1465 which was made by Fiat. The diff. lock did not work so it was useless going through wet spots. The starter had to be rebuilt more times then not, that was a high dollar item. Engin always ran good thou. It was OK for utility work around the barn but we were only able to pull a 10 ft. transport disk in the field, and not very deep either. Did not use it for plowing, bailing, hay mowing or other PTO work. The AC 175 did a better job with that. Neighbor finaly traded it in for an 1850 when the starter went out for the umteenth time. Just my experience.

Which model is it? Fiat is a very large and powerful company in the ag-business. They own CNH Global(Case New Holland)formed by purchasing Case Corp. and merging it with New Holland which they already owned.Fiat produced tractors for Oliver-Cockshutt,White,A/C,and also sold tractors in North America under the Hesston name when they owned them.

The romanian built tractors are ones to stay away from, I have heard they are very poorly made, the 5050 on the other hand are good, my brother has one and it is 25 years old and runs great, never done amything to the motor or tranny, clutches and some front axle work, (loader tractor) long and white and oliver are the same as 5050, I use to go to the oliver dealer and they would look parts up for the 5050. go to koozer ag supply and they will tell you the models that use the same parts right on the web site.

I just looked up a clutch from a 5050 allis and it goes in 40 different tractors, Hesstons, longs, whites, fiat, and allis, oliver

Some LONG tractors looked an aweful lot like the fiat built AC 5050.

The Long tractors are very similar also to the Allis 5040. Both built in Romania, designed by Fiat. Some parts have the Fiat name on them. Romanian starters seem not to hold up well. Bosch makes a starter that fits and works like a charm. The Bosch starter is BIG $$$$.
