Adjusting Delco Voltage Regulator...

I'm having trouble keeping the ammmeter on the 'charge' side when I have all my lights on.

I've had the generator on a test bench, and it checks out ok...

I have set the voltage regulator to give about 14.8V at high idle or better. (adjusting screw on left hand side of regulator)

My immediate question is about the adjusting screw on the right hand side of the regulator... I vaugely remember that the second regulator coil is current sensing...

Is the other adjusting screw on the regulator a current limit ? Do I (probably) need to set this up a bit ?

My manuals don't discuss adjusting the voltage regulator and it has been many.. many years since I've fooled around with one.

Yes- that 2nd relay is the current regulating relay. To tell 'em apart, the current relay coil's wound with a few turns of heavy wire - the voltage relay has many turns of fine wire...

You can adjust the current relay similar to the voltage relay, but you need to be careful. Set it too high and you'll burn up the generator. Best way to insert known good ammeter between the generator armature terminal and the regulator. Run the engine at max RPM and load up the system by turning on lights, adding external electrical load, etc. Now adjust the current relay until the current on the inserted ammeter matches the rating on the generator. (Note: Generator current rating may be hard to find. Sometimes it's marked on the regulator. More likely you'll need to consult a shop manual however.)

Your problem may not be the regulator. Generators are notorious for this problem because they require a higher RPM to charge than alternators do. If your system is charging at the correct voltage at higher RPM's then just adjust your throtle to run faster when you keep your lights on.

kindly let us know the range of your product regarding voltage regulators for alternators having 3-phase 440v 60hz output,
any voltage regulator equvalent for H70000 SERIES A

thanks,
