Has anyone out there tried one of the screw type log splitters? This one mounts on the three point hitch and is powered by the pto.It looks like it should work.If anyone has real experience with one of these please let me know.I am thinking of purchasing one if it works.

I had a pto screw splitter in the mid '80s and it worked great. You have to be careful like any piece of equipment. I'm looking for one again. Does anyone know where I can purchase a 3 point pto screw splitter now??

I have a BarkBuster log-splitter. I need to replace the cone that holds the screw-tip. Does anyone know where I may be able to locate this part?

I have just gotten a similar setup and was looking for infomation on it. Mine needs some work and parts - I'm sure, so... If I can't get working, I'm willing to part with the screw tip - which I do have

I've used one for 15 years and never had a close call. It is an " Arnold" Works best on logs over 3 foot. I use it on 4-5 foot logs.

I heard a story once of a guy whose pants got grabbed by one of these, it wrung him around it several times like a rag doll before his brother could jump up and shut the machine off. Needless to say it broke his leg in many places and he still suffers from it and doesn't walk right. Guess it just depends on your priorities....

Joe, turn around and run from that thing as fast and far as you can. My Dad had one and after seeing how dangerous it could be, scrapped it and bought a hydraulic type splitter. If you ever got your glove near the tip of the screw, it could catch and it would wrap you up like a pretzel. These things should have never been allowed on the market. The only good thing about them is they are fast. I would not take a chance on it!!!!

I own a barkbuster 3-pt model, is it dangerous, yes it is, so is a chainsaw, so is a shotgun. I own 50 acres of plantation pine and use mine weekly and would not trade it for any other splitter. common sense and a couple pieces of wood will teach you it's dangerous points. It is not the best splitter for big blocks of wood but on wood you only need to split once or twice there is nothing faster.

Could be as dangerous as an old buzz saw, it just doesn't look that way. If you could get the log on the point and be 6 feet away from the log at all times that would be diffrent. Unlike a saw once this thing gets ahold of ya it won't let go!
I would pass on this thing.

Back in the late 70's A neighbor had one mounted on a ferguson TO series tractor. His was poorly made. The frame bolts would loosen up while the unit was in operation and he sometimes ended up with the log spinning at pto speed! If you get one, have someone on the tractor to shut down the pto....for safety's sake.

Had a neighbor that had one that he attached to the rear of his 1/2 ton truck after he removed the wheel. I did not observe the operation up close but he split a lot of firewood with it.

RUN don't walk, leave this alone, extremely dangerous to use especially for youth. One guy toched his pants on the point, it grabbed him and went through his leg, many have had them to hit knots, jump the stop bar and break their arms.I could not recomend this piece of equipment to anyone.
