There was a case in the not too awfull distant area of here that was unthinkable. They had have a dairy herd.Times were getting tight so the dad took a truck driving job and left the 20 somthing yr old son and same aged hired hand in charge. They let the milk cows get extremly thin and literly let the dry cows and heiffers starve to death. When the story broke they young fella checked himself into the mental hospital and was released from any wrong doing. They pulled over 70 dead animals out of their own frozen manure from one barn.Their quota is out on rent under a catastophy clause ,the cattle they did feed last summer were so thin and hungry they were seen breaking out of the field to eat grass out of the ditch.Their bunkers were plenty full all along with a plentyful supply of round bales on hand as well. This was total neglect and lazyness. To top it all off, some stupid banker lent them money to build a new parlour and now they are going to start milking again next month. If they were going to buy the mental anguish story, well fine, but why are they still allowed to house animals with no improvement of animal stewardship?peeved off,pd.

We had a deal like that here about 3 years ago. Two 70 some odd year old brothers had thier 40 some odd year old nephew liveing with them on thier farm. He was not right in the head but had lived and worked with them for 20 years. They got up every morning and told him what to do. One brother died and another went to a nursing home one summer left nephew there. Guess no one thought anything about it, didn't know how bat s*** he was. First warm spell in Feb. nighbors a mile away got to notice'n a stink and buzzards. Old boy had left about 50 cows with calves in a 10 acre pasture all winter where they were when the last uncle left. Hay was still in the field, other pastures had boot top high fescue. Over half were dead. Nighbor that the courts put in charge of the place had to put down alot more. Never made the news. nighbors did the best they could to help. Nephew was sent to nut house.

Sad deal.

Dave

Suggestion was made that Vick get 90 days in dog cage shared with rescued fighting dogs. Vick to get a rub down with beef liver before going into cage. A herd of cows starving while hay and other feed available? Mental ward checkin might be from something else other than watching cows suffer- I"m wondering if caretakers were using something-Meth and Crack both known to take mind off proper busines, the downers available could make them forget to feed, just plain booze has been known to make people forget to do things. This wasn't by chance in MN was it? I thought I got wind of something like this happening in a small community about 20 miles from where I live. If there was truth to the incident in MN, it sure was kept hush hush.

Can"t be in MN- he mentioned "quota"- that"s a Canadian thing where you have to have a quota to market milk. Sort of like beet shares in the MN co-ops- piece of paper lets you get into the industry, and the paper has a price on it.

Yep cases like that need to be stopped(and punished),but the one thing that makes me even madder ,is the people on welfare, food stamps etc that have ten cats and 5 dogs.seems like around here the less you can afford it the more dogs people have.then times get rough and people start dumping them on the nearest dirt road.

I guess the link is you if people can't have cows and look after them, they shouldn't have babies if they can't look after em. Pretty simple to me.

I dont know about a aborted fetus, but a live animal will feel pain when neglected or abused. I think that is the point about animal cruelty. They should not have to suffer at the hands of man. They dident ask to treated that way, and they dont have a voice when they are. Im no animal rights person but I dont agree with mistreatment of them. My wife used to work in a psych ward, and one day she told me of a guy who liked to skin cats alive. I cant even begin to think how that can make a person feel good, but I guess if your sick in the head it does! Maybe like I like ice cream, or tractors!!!

jay in ny.....Earlier in the day You call Me ignorant....Dr.J.C. Wilkes states that by the eighth week all sensory nerves of the unborne can feel the pain and send the message to the thalamus and which is a part of the base of the brain and motor nerves send a message to that area...The fetus is ripped apart into many pieces when the suction method is used....How ignorant are You?? Do You think this is painful???Partial birth....The fetus is not considered born untill the head comes out,the doctor punctures the baby's head, uses a suction tube to empty the baby's head....Do You think this is painful for the BABY????How ignorant are You????
Killin' babies far outweighs animal cruelty in My book, but protestin' animal cruelty gives those protestin' a WARM FUZZY FEELIN' They can now hide their eyes from the real cruelty.....They have done their part, SAFELY!
Jay if You have the guts, watch the film the SILENT SCREAM...actual ultrasound film of a fetus bein' pulled apart by the suction method, the baby tries to dodge the suction tube..... .How ignorant are You????? ?
