I need to counteract the weight of a bush hog on my 8N. Front end bounces up on slopes. :)

Does anyone know of a source for wheel weights, or other weights, for a Ford 8N?

Is it practical to add calcium chloride to the front wheels to achieve the same result?

Are the front wheels lifting while mowing or while carrying the mower up off the ground? If, while mowing, then maybe you need to loosen the top link, so that the lower links are supporting the front of the mower and the tail wheel is carrying the rest of the weight. The hitch on some mowers provide a toggle where the top link attaches, if your's doesn't you could use a lenght of chain instead of the top link, it will allow more flexibility between the tractor and mower. Sometimes, if mowing really bumpy ground I unhook the top link so that the mower will be able to follow the ground.

George's answer about filling the front tires seems like a good one....I added one of those big steel front bumpers. Because of the leverage over the length of the tractor, it was enough to keep the front end on the ground with the brush Hog and the 6'finish mower. Plus I use the front hitch all the time on the utility trailer.

I added a 50/50 antifreeze mix to my front tires,4 gal. each,(a 6.00x16 should hold 5)for a total weight of 72#.That was enough to hold the tires on the ground to make life less interesting!
If you need more weight than about 10 gal worth, add a front bumper, and start hanging weights on.good luck

How'd you get the antifreeze mix into the tires?
