before the bank bailout I said that a few weeks after it would come out on how money is being misused. Been watching the news, banks are using money to aquire other banks, give out bigger year end bonuses, ect. and there was no tracking system put in by congress as to where the money is being used. Should have let greedy stock traders jump out of windows so no more good food or air is wasted on them, should have let the banks fail also and if you made a loan over your head maybe you ought to lose your home, the gov. can't always fix peoples screw ups, there is no accountability anymore. I watched my neighbors get sold out and lose their farms, many were good operators and didn't have a yard full of new mach. they just got caught in a bad situation. No body really cared and our towns will never recover from the losses to our communities. sorry to sound so harsh but I am sick of this crap. I try to live in my means and pay my bills, if someone is stupid enough to buy a house on a int. only loan you ought to pay the price when you can't make the payments.

Heard on the news last night, Ft. Worth, Tx. is getting 6mil in bailout funds to stop home foreclosures. Here's the plan, give folks $20,000 to help them buy a house. If they stay in the house 5 yrs. the "loan" is forgiven. Just more incentive to get folks in homes they can't afford.

So how does giving a prospective house buyer $20,000 slow foreclosures? Beats me.

Like you, it irritates the fool out of me. James and I work hard and live within our means and all these people who bought more than they could afford get hand outs and bail outs paid for with my money (tax dollars). GRRRRR R!

I agree. It just frosts me that the government has decided to reward people for being less than responsible. Kind of a slap in the face for those of us who have carefully lived within our means.

Remember it when you vote!

Now it's get in line for federal govt bail out. The big 3 automakers are all standing in line with their hands out begging. Now the city of Atlanta GA has asked for a federal govt bail out. Thanks Barney, thanks Chris. Hope you two are happy.

Well, just look at the only people that were allowed to vote for the bailout.....politicians...that was it.You bet your sweet bippy if an emergency vote was called and the public were allowed to vote,it would have been a big NO for the bailout.

This will never happen, but if we let the banks fall and all of these other bailout chums go down the tubes, and close our borders to all the imports and exports, we would be in a recovery mode within 90 days. We have to become self sufficient again. That is the only way we can recover in this lifetime. We will never see this happen.

I hope I am wrong, but at age 53, I will not live long enough to ever see times as good as I have seen in the past. And probably not long enough for my children either.

I had to quit watching the news and reading the paper because I was angry all the time. Bad economic times are partly a state of mind and the constant drum beat of bad news causes stampede mentality and makes a bad situation worse. The politicians said the taxpayers could end up making money on the bailout because we would get distressed assets. I've seen too much of how the govt. operates to believe that line. Who wants "distressed assets"? Not me. Looks like we won't even get that.

Your post reminded me of a bumber sticker I saw in traffic the other day. It said "Of course you can trust the government, just ask an indian."
