I saw a mid sized Hesston tractor the other day. It appeared to be a mid to late 80's from the styling. I know Hesston made implements and conbines but wasnt really aware of the tractors. My question is who really manufactured them for Hesston?

One thing I'd like to add is that there was never a combine made with the hesston logo or paint scheme. Tractors, balers, swathers (both self propelled and pull type) and possibly a few other implements but never a combine. As big of a joke as the tractor was I can't even imagine what kind of a headache a combine would of been.

Hesston made quite a bit of implements: tillage equipment (no plows or planters), mowers, rakes, balers, forage harvestors, forage wagons, uni loaders, etc. I seem to remember in Hesston catalogs that the controls in the mower cabs were on the left side, which is strange because they are typically on the right.

Hesston at one time did make a header attachment for other mfgrs combines called the HeadHunter for use in sorghum and sunflowers. If I recall correctly, they also made the Field Queen SP forage harvesters, the ones with the integral dump box.

I'd kinda forgotten about that. WE even own a set of those hesston headhunters. Have them setup permanantely on a massey header we hook to the 750 for picking up sorghum that's layed down. They work pretty darn good too till you hit a field full of firebush and then it's the pit's. Fireweed won't go through worth a toot and they pile up the sorghum on the outside. Alot of moving parts too but sure beat's just leaving the sorghum lay there in the field for cow feed.

Fiat also owns what was formerly known as Ford-New Holland. Our local Fiatagri/New Holland dealer (a Ford tractor dealer since 1939) also now services any Hesston tractors that may show up on his doorstep.
