I was wondering if anyone had considered an 'off topic', general stuff, etc.. section? Seems like half the posts here are for other than tractor stuff. I have posted off topic stuff too, just such a big forum that I wondered if it would be a little easier to sort through the non tractor specific and the 'tractor talk' with another section in the forum.

I put a poll up with a 10 day time frame.

I am just curious what others think so no flaming.... This thread includes a poll, click here to view in advanced forum view.

One thing that amazes me is that behind a keyboard's internet anominity, people get real mean. Most of these people never would dream of acting so mean in person. Years ago I worked for my uncle, in construction. He had a meeting with a guy in a dispute over some repairs done to my uncle's truck. The mechanic had never met my uncle, just talked on the phone. I showed up at the shop a little ahead of my uncle, who had me drop the truck off. This guy was telling me that he was gonna kick my uncle's azz. I didn't say a word. My uncle showed up, 6'7" 290 lbs. 12 years, in the USMC, master sargent. After Uncle got outta his truck, you would have that guy was my uncle's long lost brother!!! Guy was looking scared to death. Good idea, uncle had put several people in the hospital. All that azz kicking became some butt licking pronto!

There was an OT board, however it turned out be one big argument with name callings, insults etc. Some of the stuff was amusing some were downright nasty and hateful. Thats why Kim got rid of it.

This website was going along for years before I even stumbled onto it. I've only ordered a few items from "YT." So how much say should I have in how the site is run? Not a whole lot.
I do appreciate the opportunity to ask questions & express myself here & learn from others. I don't like the cruelty seen here the past few days. Bottom line: not my website-I don't own it. Coffee Helps.

I believe an off topic forum on this site would be an excellent improvement. A lessening of the rules, a disclaimer of some sort indicating that topics being discussed here are out of the realm of tractor repair and country western music.

Can't we all agree that some people here would actually participate in and be intrigued by a far superior level of discussion? If the people that only understand tractor pulls and stump grinding don't wish to participate then they may opt not to. But I'm sure some of you have an intellectual curiousness that is not being met here. And I believe we could change our handles for said forum to allow for a more free flow of questions.

I don't wish to boast, but I am uniquely qualified to lead such a discussion board. I don't know your procedure here, but should someone nominate me to moderate the new forum I shall be up to the task.

O/T is a great ideal and I don't know why they closed the other ones, it may have to do with the whiners like on here. It clearly says O/T and they can't move on. This place can get so sanitary that it's like watching paint dry. What's the little lever under the seat, why are my tires round. Thus my tag line. All the O/Ts are longer than any of the legal topics.
O/ts can survive right here along side the regular posts, you don't have to post to Six Shooter, or Gun Safes/ Gun storage, or gravity, or, I'm out for a while, just move along. Nobodies here to poo in your nest, just don't tell me what to read, and it ain't your nest.

.
.
The whiners have it. WAAA

I think it closed because it degenerated into name calling and questioning the s*xual orientation and/or animals used of the various participants. The rules were continually broken and Kim chose to shut it down rather put up with such filth.

If you want to be mean spirited "Have you thought of starting your own site..... .rather than trying to modify Ms Kim's????
", so be it.. I just asked a question. No, I didn't know there had been other attempts. I confess I don't understand why it would get out of hand... have her pull the topic then..

Did I in any way, what so ever, imply or impune anyone for the use of O/T?

No.. I didn't.
I asked a simple question. A simple "We tried that and it didn't work" would have been great.. This thread includes a poll, click here to view in advanced forum view.

Hey wallace, I wasn't being mean-spirited; I think it's a legitimate question; several long-time posters..... that I'm aware of..... .have started their own site. I'm sure there are others that I don't know about. As far as "have her pull the topic", she doesn't answer to me; I'm a guest on here; I always find it amusing when someone says to a new poster, "Welcome to the forum". I find it akin to being a guest in someone's home and telling someone knocking at the door, "Welcome, come on in".

It's been tried and Mom "booted" them each time. Too many whined about OT stuff. So--it just spills over to the other boards.

There have been at least 2 on YT; first one lasted less than a month; second one for somewhat longer..... ..before it too got so 'rough' that it was pulled. Have you thought of starting your own site..... .rather than trying to modify Ms Kim's????

I'm guilty of O.T. posts too (actually about to post another) and I second what Ray said about the good folks who answer questions on this forum. There's so much of a knowledge base here, I'm never disappointed in the quality and accuracy of the information. My only regret is that my current job is out of state and I have very little "free time" anymore. So here's a big thank-you to all the participants and members of this forum.

One of these years, we'll get our hurricane repairs completed, build our shop and barn and get back to working on the old iron we have setting outside...

Welllll ,, Over the past few years, I have used the "OT" probably as much as farm & tractor related stuff. Most of the time I have gotten great answers and sincere help with my questions, problems. This place is a fount of knowledge just waiting to be tapped. Some of these bits of knowledge have saved me much grief, and often $ when I go out looking for the solutions to my problems. If posting "OT" is a crime, guess I'll have to plead "guilty." And if I have another question I think I can get answered on these boards, I'll probably come back here here first. (Unless Miss Kim calls me off.)
