I found an Toro Tractor dated around mid-40's.It
has a 1947/8 8n engine,dual wheels,single seat. I was told that it was used at golf courses.Does
ANYONE have any info on this type of tractor. In
all of my tractor hunting,I have never seen one of these, and does anyone know what kind of value
it might have? Thank's in advance.

I also own a 1948 Toro Tractor. There doesn’t seem to be much information on them. I want to restore mine but I wound start until I find more about them. Any info on original colors and decals would be appreciated

We have a Toro tractor (age unknown) with a Ford flathead six and a four speed trans and dual rear wheels. Was used to pull gang reel mowers at a local college. Also once probably had hydraulically lifted mowers mounted on it. Has a planetary reduction gear in the driveline and will still go waaaay too fast for a rig with no springs and one band brake. Know of two like mine but longer with short dump boxes on them. Is there a club or can we start one????

I have used a length of threaded rod w/ a T bar on bottom end to get under the sleeve. Then put another T bar on top w/ some small blocks under it. Only have to pull it a short distance & it will pop right out. KB

I have one of these as well. mine is the toro general from the 50's. Also have the origional manual for it. we use it for mowing and hauling in the dump box. near impossible to find info on them so good luck. I am looking for a few parts for ours like the tags that say toro for the side of the hood and the bull horns for the front above the radiator. if any info please let me know. i can also answer a few questions from my manual. toro has no info besides very vague. was told that the records on these were no longer kept. bummer huh? the goatppl

I have a'47 General and wonder if your manual would be useful for my model. I'm right in the middle of a complete restoration and was wondering about pictures and diagrams in the manual. They didn't change much, except for engine size, hood & grill and it could be useful. Thanks Craig

Early 60's i worked at bellmeade country club in nashville. We used a tractor similar to what you describe, short, low, dual wheels in rear. Used it to pull mowers to mow fairways and roughs. Don't know what kind of engine but it was much faster than regular tractors. I tried many times to open it up, even on pavement. It would get so fast , just start comming off ground, would have to let up on it.

Don't you remember a while back seeing Arnold Palmer the golfer advertising for "Penzoil" on TV, he was riding and talking about HIS old Toro that he used as a boy on the golf course-----that should tell you how old it must be. I would buy it and restore it and sit back and watch it go up in value---I'll bet theres not many of those left around anymore I'll bet you could find out some history on it too. Jim in N M
