I purchased a 62 Ford industrial with a backhoe and a loader. I need to get it home 70 plus miles so I am going to trailer it. Problem is I need to know how much it weighs so I can get a trailer that can handle it. I have access to a trailer that can carry 10000 lbs and believe this to be good enough my brother (ytmag nut and told me you can help) thinks I am wrong. Can anyone help me?

Thanks,
Stephen

I have a 3500 Ford with loader and hoe and a 20ft 10,000 lb car trailer and wouldn't think of putting it on there for a safe haul. I use a 25ft gooseneck with 14,000 lb rating and know real well that tractor is back there when pulling it. They are heavy pieces of iron. I also have all four tires loaded with fluid so that adds a fair amount of weight as well.

 1963 4000 Ind hoe and loader - 7,280 lbs. in reply to stephen c smith, 05-22-2008 19:04:56
I've got a Ford Industrial 4000 with a backhoe and front loader. 172 c.i. gas engine.

The 1963 tractor itself weighs - 3800 lbs. with gas engine and 3900 with diesel. Front loader
model # 724 weighs 1,020 lbs. Rear backhoe model # 723 weighs 2000 lbs. for 10 foot depth
model, 2,190 lbs. for 12 foot depth model, or 2,360 lbs. for 14 foot depth model. So, all together the 4000 loader/hoe weighs 6,820 lbs. to 7,280 lbs.

JDEMARIS:

I have a '62 2000 w/134 gasser and your figures for the 4000 are right on target as my 2000 fully loaded with all operating fluids weighs just under 5 ton total w/ backhoe /loader and all.

Jim
