I had a similar problem like that one time, but mine was Fuel.Had a tree leaf in the Fuel Tank that kept getting sucked into the fuel pickup line inside the Tank and blocking off the Fuel.
How that Leaf got in there,I don't know!

You need to check for fire to the plugs asap when it quits running. If there's no fire replace the coil. Hal

when she dies, check the spark.. if it has spark.. look at the fuel.. perhaps even tank vacume.

if no spark.. jumper around the key switch.

Bubba,
I have a 1953 jubilee and had the same problem. I went on this forum and got all the same answers started with fuel so I took of the copper fuel line and replaced it with temporary clear hose so I could see if it was a fuel problem, it wasent. Then everyone started saying it was the coil,it wasent. So I started looking deeper and when I took the point and condenser mounting plate off I found that the wire going to the points was old and frayed so I replaced it and the problem went away. Hope it works for you.

had the same thing happen with a pickup truck. Like to drove me crazy. The wire shorts out when it gets hot & moves a tiny fraction.

Try pulling the distributer cap and take off the points and condenser plate and check the wire that is below that plate make sure it has good connection and is in good condition

When it dies check the spark. If you don"t have any, I"d suspect the coil or the key switch. Is your electrical system a 6V or a 12V? If it"s a 12 V do you have a real 12V coil like NAPA IC-14SB? If you don"t do you have a resistor in the the primary ignition circuit? These coil are limited to 4 amps max current and if you have a 6V 1.5 ohm coil on a 12 V system, you"ll be putting about 8 amps through the coil and that will cause an overheat of the coil. Key switch can have high reisitance and cause a similar problem. When it dies on o you and has no spark, jumper around trhe key switch and see if it will start. If it starts when you jump the key switch, then the key switch will need replacement.

If you have a good spark when it dies, then it"s the fuel system that you should look at, Check fuel deivery to the carb and make sure the tank vent is clear.

Sounds like a bad coil for sure.

Check coil and condenser, and ignition switch, breaking down after hot then cools and runs again. Check for rust in the fuel tank, sets and seeps past the rust and fills the fuel line allowing it to run again.

Well to start with they didn't make a Jubilee in 1954 only 1953. If in fact its a 1954 then its an NAA. Almost the same tractor other them hood emblems. As the others said maybe the gas tank vent. If taking the gas cap off does not fix the problem check for spark you may have a bad condenser

Plugged gas tank vent. New cap? Original cap was vented.

Next time when it dies, remove the fuel tank cap and listen for "whooshing" sound. If you hear that sound, it indicates that the vent for the fuel tank has become obstructed, which creates a vacuum, and fuel cannot flow to the carburetor.
