Last summer I was mowing hay up a hill with my 4610 Ford tractor and the pto would just stop. I would shut it off, back up and restart it and it would work the rest of the way up the hill. Next time around it would stop in the same spot on the hill. Never had any problems with it until I worked on this hill. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my Hesston. The PTO would stop and would not start. I am still trying to find the real reason but I have discovered that it had to do with air getting into the hydraulic lines. I"ve actually had to disconnect them to bleed the air out before the PTO would restart. And no, blowing some fluid out of the remotes would not do it.

Sounds like low of fluid to me also. When you back up. It is slushing some fluid to the pump some and takes off. Then when you go up the hill .. the tilt takes the fluid away from it. Better check it out for useing it much. Might do some damage to the inners.
