Went to the local Ford tractor place yesterday, to pick a few brains. Had to go back in the shop area, to find the brain i wanted to pick. Now, i'm used to tractors like we use for grass mowing, or Ford N Models, and so on. But there, standing tall in all of its glory--was a humongous Farmall farm tractor! WOW!! The back tires were almost as tall as me! And, it had just been repainted and completely refurbished! I have never seen one of that size here around Pittsburgh, Pa. The manager said it belongs to some rich guy in Sewickley Heights I was impressed by the size and condition of it! I suppose, to you folks in farm country, it wouldn't seem so impressive, but to a city suburb guy, it is!

When I was still farming, I ran out of diesel fuel and needed some in my 856 Farmall before the tank truck could get there. A service station at an Interstate interchange a couple of miles away had a diesel pump, so I just drove up there and filled. I wasn't in a position to quibble over the road tax for one tankful.

Now, here in the Midwest, an 856, even with duals, is not necessarily a big tractor. However, there was a car with New York plates on the opposite side of the island, and the guy stared at the tractor like he was transfixed. He even waited in his car until I fired it up and left before he went. I assumed he was maybe from Downtown Manhattan?

Put a cannon on the front of that thing and you would have your own tank. lol It looks like it wants to eat something big. lol I kind of like it myself.

Those aren't so impressive any more - tracked tractors are the new rage.

Running all around me the past 2 days. I'm stuck with just a little 135 hp tractor for the big power....

I see a lot more Green tracked ones east of me, and several Yellow tracked ones all around. Only just a few of the 4-tracked Red ones are west of me.

Fantastic ride compared to wheel tractor, puts lots of HP to the ground, now all they have to do is keep it from throwing tracks and make tracks that last more than a season, Rented one and loved it until track problem. Mechanic/track repairman said it was common??
