I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I volunteered to help a neighbor out by changing the fluids and filter in his ford tractor. Everything was going smooth until I got to the differentials / Hyd in the rear axle. There are to large screw caps on the top right and left of the axle. I hope someone can tell me what goes where.

I would also like to know where I check the fluid level for the plug on the left? I did see one article the said that there was a dipstick near the PTO. This tractor does not have a dipstick there. I believe the fluid level for the plug on the right is checked by a square plug on the lower right side of the transmission.

There are no matching model numbers that I can find for this tractor. I have order to manuals online and neither show these plug or can even help me identify this tractor.

Napa did tell me that the replacement air filter I purchased would fit a 2600, 3600 4100, 4600 and a few others.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gunny,

Don't have my books handy but I can tell you how my 1981 231 is. 231 is basically a LCG 2600.

Sitting on the tractor, with your feet on the running boards. There will be a plug 1/4"NPT if I remember, that is about the height of your ankle and just a little rearward.

Filler is right next to the rear of the seat mount, also on the right side of the tractor.

I don't believe there are dipsticks on the 2600/3600s, BUT there are a lot smarter people on here that can verify.

Hope this helps.
Rick

Rick,

Thanks for the help and quick response. Can you tell me if your tractor has to large fill plugs maybe 1 1/2" in diameter behind the seat and on top of the axle?

Thanks again for the help
