Info on IH 385? Maybe also sold as a Case-IH?

I need a small tractor to leave at some remote farm-land I own. Found a tractor a guy is calling an International Harvester 385. He says it's a three-cylinder diesel, three speed trans with hi-low range, and 41 PTO horsepower.

I know nothing about it. Did some searching and found a 385 sold under Case or Case-International. 155 c.i. engine, made in England. Specs show 33 horse, not 41, and also a four-speed trans with hi-low, not a three speed.

I looked at engine parts at this website and nothing available.

Anybody know anything about these tractors?

echoing others, if it's really an IH 385 it's 35 PTO HP 155 CID 3 cyl. 8F/4R

It is basically a "3 cyl 584/585" same bore and stroke as the D206.
We had bought a new IH 385 back in 1985, IH colors and decals, last before the CIH ones.

The 385 is based on a French skid unit with a German D155 diesel engine. MJ

Thanks - that's kinda' what I thought. Can't figure where the seller comes up with the 41 horse figure. He also says it has a three-speed trans with high and low range - and as far as I know, it's supposed to be a four-speed with hi-low, not a three-speed.

I got wondering if there were variations over the years - or maybe the seller is wrong? Seems to be a lot of people selling tractors on the Net nowadays that know little about what they are selling.

I just need a small tractor (30-50 horse) with live PTO and hydraulics - that parts are available for. My old British-Indian IHs from the early 60s have been great and parts are easy to get. Not sure about this more modern rig.

Try phoning around for an injector pump for the 385. The 585 and I think even the 485 use a very common pump. Neighbour got rid of his 385 when he found it was 4000$+ for a pump if it died.
