Hang an old sock near your grinder, paint gun, etc, and keep your goggles in the sock. The sock keeps the dust, dirt, crud, and corruption off from them as well as keeping them in one place so you can find them.

Here is another use for pantyhose, when you get through working with fiberglass of any kind(insulation, etc.)rub yourself down with'em.The nylon will pick up the fiberglass fibers and stop that dang itchin.Just don't use a pair that your wife or GF expects to wear again,it makes 'em madder than h*ll LOL

Works MUCH BETTER if someone is wearing them at the time.

How or where do you get an old sock?

I buy new socks, wear them, put them in the dirty clothes hamper, and never see them again.

I have a saying "cash evaporates and dryers eat socks". I put my socks in a mesh laundry bag so they don't "disappear" forever.

Old socks work well to cover the hose connectors on remote hyd cylinders when the cylinders are not in use. Works well for IH breakaways and Pioneers.

When people come out to our place, they do a double take when they see the tractors. Every one of them has an old sock over the intake to keep dirt daubers out. We should probably put them over the exhaust, too.

Cut the elastic part from socks and slide them over your wrists when changing oil. Catches the oil that runs down your arm. Good for a few changes.

The dryer eats my socks. I need my old ones to wear. I have used them for a quick muzzle for dogs, scope covers, etc. If you nail socks up in the workshop does Santa bring you new tools?

I keep an old tube sock over the barrel and scope on the guns in my closet. keeps dust off plus protects finish on the stock.--If you can steal a pantyhose off the Mrs. A chunk of that makes a good pasetwax aplicator, And believe it or not they will work as a temporary fan belt on a car with V pullys I read that somewhere didn't believe it until one day I tried it Just loosen adjuster tie pantyhose leg double knot adjust tightness. Drove 70 some mile home.

Yep, used pantyhose as a fan belt to get home one night long, long time ago. IIRC we couldn't go over 30 MPH or so, the alt/gen light would come on.

Hey thats a super idea, now I gotta nail up about half a dozen socks above the work bench, so at least one or two of them will have glasses in them.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but an old sock has served me well to keep the dust off of the fuel filler neck on my Case-IH combine.

I also have been known to cut a patch from the elastic portion of a sock, smear it with silicone caulking, and slap it on a hole that has worn through a grain leg or auger tube. Amazing how long that elastic holds up !
