ok guys, as a follow up from yesterday, I discussed the filter issues with my son who has been doing the work...we went to the tractor, turned the fuel on, and started turning over the engine. it fired up, ran fine for about 20-25 seconds and then died. This is after the Carb cleaning(total disassembly). I am assuming that it ran until the bowl emptied and then no more fuel delivery--it did this a second time. Am I on the right track to assum that the fuel is not filling the bowl consistently due to blockage and would most likely work if I can clear that????? ?

Is there an in line filter that's been added? Its designed for a pressure fuel system, not gravity and won't pass as much fuel as the engine needs.

If there's good fuel flow from the line unhooked from the carburetor, unscrew the carburetor inlet adaptor. It has a screen that is very likely clogged with dirt and varnish. I've seen that several times.

That would be consistent with a 'trickle' from the tank-blockage. I would pursue that until proven otherwise. Greg

Yes. Leave the fuel line off of the carb and turn "on" the gas valve and see if you get a steady stream of gas flow for the same 20 seconds. IF you don't, try takeing the gas cap off and do the same test over. If you get a steady stream that doesn't stop this time, you have a plugged vent hole in your gas cap.
